Pure bad luck

Soulful Scribbles:

For the past few weeks, my time was fully dedicated to a load of assignments, thus explaining my absence from the blogosphere. My sincere apologies. But the good thing is, it's now over! No more assignments till the next semester! :D

¤ ¤ ¤

Yesterday was probably the unluckiest day of my life.

You see...

  • I hurt my nose by bumping into a glass door 7 early 8 early in the morning! Must be my sleepiness and blurriness since I only had an hour's worth of sleep the previous night. And this occurred when I was about to exit my faculty's administrative centre! *digs a hole to hide* OK... I think no one saw this, except a friend who was accompanying me. But still, it was so embarrassing as a loud bang was heard instantaneously and echoed mercilessly throughout the main hall. Ouch!
  • I accidentally dropped my newly printed 30-page-plus assignment at the printing shop when I was about to get it bound. I had quite a hard time rearranging it since all these pages were not indicated with numbers. *sigh*
  • That night, I was ready to go home for my study week but I arrived at the Butterworth bus station to a bad, bad news: no bus tickets were left! And you know the suay-est (unluckiest) thing? The girl queueing just in front of me got the last remaining tickets and when it was my turn, all tix had been sold out completely! @#$!%&! I was thinking of taking a cab home but it was too bloody expensive (imagine RM100 for a trip home compared to the usual price of RM7.50 for the bus). That was like what... 13 times the price of the latter option! Seeing this, my last option was to return to the island and board the bus on the next day. But the stubborn me insisted to go home that very night. And thankfully, the bus operators managed to hire another bus which was meant to rest, and the poor me finally got my wish fulfilled. For this short yet exhausting trip, we were required to pay double (i.e. RM15) but I was so willing to conform to it as long as it was reasonable and could send me home safe and sound.

My goodness... Never in my life have I been so suay and struck by so many misfortunes in 1 day! *bawls*

If I said I went sleepless for 29 hours in the last entry, I brushed a whole new record just weeks ago. You know what, I actually slept (yes, it's Zzz... this time) for 19.5 hours non-stop! What was initially meant to be a 2 or 3-hour nap ended up becoming a hibernation from 5PM to 12:30PM on the next day! Woah... Completely thrashed my old record of 17 hours in the last semester. And the funny thing is, I could've slept way more than that if it wasn't due to an afternoon lecture.

Geez... I must really, really discipline myself. So pathetic!

And if you could still remember this entry, my last studio project was based on that very village we visited. All architecture students were required to design 5 sustainable huts on a suitable plot of land (or even water) within the village grounds, using only materials indigenous to the site. A smooth flow of connection must exist between each unit. These structures need not to be completely different from one another; they could be identical in both exterior and interior. Well of course, the more designs you could produce, the more interesting your proposal would be. Since there was a time constraint, I settled for 2.

Site analysis (team project)

Site and layout plan; design concept; floor plan and elevations of the 1st design

Perspective views of the 1st design; floor plans and elevations of the 2nd design

Perspective views of the 2nd design; sectional layout of all units; bubble diagram

A closing ceremony for our studio was held yesterday as the end of the 2nd semester was drawing close. All studio lecturers and students were required to attend this ceremony. There was also a mini exhibition showcasing what the design students (architecture, interior design, urban and regional planning) had done all through this semester and I was kinda surprised to see this project of mine being put on display. It was certainly a nice consolation after all those sleepless nights I had in this 4-month long semester. What say you?

I was excited to learn that my application to replace the English courses (compulsory for all university undergraduates) with a foreign language of choice was approved. All thanks to the satisfying MUET (Malaysian University English Test) results I managed to obtain 2 and a half years back.

Oh yes, I'm gonna opt for Français! Anyone who knows me best would definitely know my eagerness to learn this beautiful language of prestige and elegance. Having learnt Chinese, English, and Malay all my life, the addition of French to my language repertoire would enable me to walk further and reach out to a wider population. I mean, more than half of the world's population of 6.7 billion (according to the the latest demographic statistics) use these languages on a daily basis. Besides, this is so gonna be the 1st step I'm taking for the sake of my green-grass mission in the future. Sounds familiar, Zewt?

Should I have any problems along the journey, fear not! You see... I have pure native French-speaking blogger friends here to help me cope with this! Yeah... I mean you ~ Zhu, Angele, and claudie! :P Or maybe this tigress could lend me a helping hand too! *winks*

I hereby declare a 2-week long hiatus from the blogosphere due to the imminent finals I'm gonna have in April. This exam is gonna be so tough. Die! And because of this dreaded thing, I'm forced to say goodbye (damn unwillingly!) to Céline Dion's Taking Chances World Tour live in Kuala Lumpur on April 8th! There goes my once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be up close and personal with the diva... *bawls bawls bawls*

Addendum @ 12:53AM (April 1st): Her concert has been postponed to April 13th! I wonder if I could make it there...

Damn it sure was a very bad day! *lol* The nose bumping and the papers spreading everywhere can still be classified as "accidents". But not getting the bus tickets while the person just before you actually got one... *cough* Definitely bad luck :|

*clap clap* Bravo!
French is a gud choice ^^ I've always thought that Français is one of the most beautiful languages in the world. Someday you might even write a post in French! :o

Great project, I'd say. Hope you have a good weekend. Enough of the "suay"-ness for the rest of the year!

A long entry to make up for my long absence. ;)

To be frank, I actually had a hard time deciding on the title. Since my suay moments were so happening, hence the title for this entry.

How I wish I could go there now! :(

Good luck with the new project, and wish you all the best in learning France, it is indeed beautiful language :)

kyh said... Tell you what... I really thought I wouldn't be able to come home that night! I was realy, really frustrated. :(

Never seen their houses before. Really similar?

Ecky: Of course I wouldn't mind! I'm thrilled to have a new visitor here! :D Looks like I have to thank her for bringing you here! ;)

Oh thank you! French is indeed a beautiful language, if not the best.

Zhu said...

Wow, français! Woo hoo! Don't forget I'm a French teacher (no, seriously) so if you need any link or classes (I have a bunch on Word) I can easily send it to you.

And bad luck days... they happen. Dropping to papers about to be bound happened to me too. It was painful! And yeah, no numbered pages of course... :D

Doreen said...

That was very suay, but nevermind, as the suay is gone, the luck comes knocking on your door.

you do have a good memory and remember that I learnt French too huh?
Your Architecture course project is so interesting compared to the problematic programming I had to deal with in uni last time. SIGH.

kyh said...

My memory always remembers the wrong things when I need it most during exams. *sigh*

Intesresting huh? But very time-consuming!

zewt said...

You learned it before too? But I'm ready to take up whatever challenge it poses to me.
